Dangerous curves pay off

Good ideas for safe streets are never wrong. For NODBOX, winner of the T-Systems Special Prize at the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2007, such ideas were real door openers.
Car makers and manufacturers of navigation and map systems are interested in the French company's solution. T-Systems is drawing on its numerous contacts from the industrial and political sectors to help NODBOX present its ideas to a large audience. For example, both companies are currently in talks with large automobile corporations. NODBOX managing directors Thierry Fargas and Dominique Clarac are therefore not left out in the rain on their road to success.

The solution ensures smooth sailing - or driving in this case. If a driver approaches a curve at excessive speeds, a system in his car sounds an alarm. In a split second, the solution calculates whether the car is traveling too fast from a combination of speed, street condition, obstacles, temperature and weather conditions. The system receives the risk analysis data in real time via satellite or UMTS. However, it will be a while until all of this is a reality. In order for the solution to work on all the streets in Germany, measuring vehicles must first drive them all, survey them using special cameras and document the street surface conditions.
A demo version of the NODBOX solution is available for viewing.
